Creating your Sustainable Future with Adhesives and Sealants
Benefit Stories
Adhesives and Sealants (A&S) have been a critical component for very many products and manufacturing processes for much of the latter half of the 20th century. Prior to the 1900s most sealants and adhesives were derived from vegetable, animal, or mineral substances, but the rise of the polymer industry in the early 1930s led to the development of modern polymeric sealants and adhesives and revolutionised the construction and insulation of buildings. Today A&S are playing an increasingly central role in protecting the environment by delivering sustainable solutions for society.
The use of A&S in many sectors including construction, automotive, and energy production, contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of a surprising number of everyday and advanced products and manufacturing processes creating a “new licence to do business in the 21st century”.
Aiming to promote the performance and benefits of these “hidden” materials, FEICA will publish six benefit stories demonstrating the critical part A&S are contributing to modern life. Our six stories will include building and construction, transport and automotive manufacture, insulation and energy generation.
Suitable for publication in trade and consumer publications, the stories will provide real life examples of how and why A&S are critical to the making of the final product and how they are delivering sustainable solutions.
These stories are examples of best practices developed and used by the A&S industry in selected sectors and illustrate the substantial environmental gains achieved by the specification and selection of an adhesive or sealant over other conventional fastening techniques..
A “sustainable” Industry is a forward-looking Industry, conscious of its responsibility and with a long-term perspective. This is the Adhesives and Sealants Industry - contributing to create a better future for society!
