REACH

The REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) Regulation was formally adopted in December 2006 and will enter into force on 1 June 2007. The text of the Regulation was published on 30 December 2006 in the Official Journal of the European Union L 396.

The Regulation aims to protect health and environment through better identifying the properties of chemical substances. In relation to this the Regulation gives greater responsibility to industry to manage the risks from chemicals and to provide safety information on the substances. Thus industry will have to deal with a lot changes entailed to the implementation of REACH.

FEICA is trying to support its members through several activities.

As a member of DUCC, the Downstream Users of Chemical Co-ordination group, FEICA joins forces with other downstream users in order to contribute to the further development of REACH
As a partner in the REACH Implementation Programme, RIP 3.2 and RIP 3.5 FEICA is developing a standardised method to enable FEICA members to create exposure scenarios for the adhesives and sealants industry more efficiently whilst respecting their need for confidentiality.
FEICA has created a REACH Implementation Working Group in order to discuss how to handle REACH issues specifically related to the adhesives and sealants manufacturing industry.
